भारतीय टीम ऑस्ट्रेलिया के दौरे पर थी और वनडे सीरीज में मेजबान टीम को 2-1 से हराकर 70 सालों बाद एक इतिहास रचने में कामयाब हुई। इस दौरे का आगाज हुआ था टी-20 सीरीज से जिसका कोई नतीजा नहीं निकला था। फिर टेस्ट सीरीज में भी भारतीय टीम ने बेहतरीन प्रदर्शन कर खिताब अपने नाम किया था और अब वनडे सीरीज को जीतकर भारत ने दौरे का बढ़िया समापन किया। इस जीत में जो खिलाड़ी सबसे ज्यादा चमका वो थे महेंद्र सिंह धोनी।
